Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. This policy explains how Longwave (operated by Signal Group Limited) uses cookies on longwave.media.
We use only strictly necessary cookies, onefunctional cookie for our affiliate program, and oneanalytics cookie for anonymous demo visitor tracking. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| session | Stores your authentication session after signing in with Google or X. Required to keep you logged in across page loads. Set as httpOnly (inaccessible to JavaScript) to prevent session hijacking. | 30 days | Strictly necessary |
| oauth_state | Temporary cookie set during the OAuth login flow to prevent CSRF attacks. Deleted automatically once login is complete. | Minutes | Strictly necessary |
| oauth_code_verifier | Temporary cookie used for PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange) to secure the OAuth authorisation code flow. Deleted automatically once login is complete. | Minutes | Strictly necessary |
| ss_ref | Set server-side when you arrive via an affiliate referral link. Read during account creation to attribute your sign-up to the affiliate who referred you. Does not track your browsing behaviour. | 1 year | Functional |
| anon_client_id | Set when you visit the demo page (/demo). Links anonymous interactions (sample clicks, terminal views, sign-in gate interactions) to a sign-up if you create an account during the same browsing session. Also stored in localStorage with the same value. Does not track your browsing across other websites. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage and cookies for our domain. | 24 hours | Analytics |
Under GDPR and the UK PECR, strictly necessary cookies — those required for the website to function — are exempt from the consent requirement. Our single functional cookie (ss_ref) is set server-side only when you arrive via an affiliate referral link and is used solely for referral attribution.
We also set one first-party analytics identifier (anon_client_id) on the demo page. It is first-party only (set by our domain, read by our domain, never shared), stored in both localStorage and as a 24-hour httpOnly cookie, and used solely to understand whether anonymous demo visitors go on to sign up. First-party analytics of this nature — no advertising, no profiling, no cross-site tracking, no third-party data sharing — is standard industry practice and does not require a consent banner. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party analytics service.
If we ever introduce additional non-essential cookies or third-party trackers, we will update this policy and add appropriate consent controls.
We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies. When you connect your YouTube or X account, you are redirected to Google or X to authenticate - those platforms may set their own cookies on their domains, governed by their own cookie and privacy policies.
You can delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that deleting the session cookie will sign you out of the Service.
We will update this policy if we introduce new cookies or technologies, and will notify you of any material changes via email or an in-service notice.
