Marco Rubio Slams the ICC — Dave Talks: Politics 🌐

Little Marco bloody little Marco. I'll tell you what this guy. I actually think he's got a good shot at being a future president Because he's he's doing a good job at politics and that's the gig right and he's a former senator So he's been around the traps and you know that'll play the game Yeah Marco little Marco Rubio. So have you ever wondered have you ever wondered why the USA Why do USA reject the ICC the ICC is the international criminal court? You knew that. I'm sure you knew that Why does Why does the USA reject them so strongly aren't they like the place where you're going and you know prosecute Bad people what isn't that they're like where you're supposed to go is the international criminal court It's like like you know So that's the international body that you escalate your you know, they're the sort of stuff too So why is it that the USA are like Marco Rubio little Marco. He just called I'm not calling him I am calling him bow I wasn't the first to call him little Marco Donald J. Trump was the first Little Marco little Marco You know that in Florida They hate little Marco Rubio so much Because of the fact that he never votes he never shows up to vote So when you think I mean actually if you use I'll use a phrase a word that he uses He has conned the people of Florida In devoting forum and I'll tell you what they are angry because he never shows he is the worst voting record in all of Florida He has the worst voting record in the United States Senate and one of the worst voting records in the history Of the United States Senate. I don't think he's gonna do too well. They are angry at him He couldn't be elected dog catcher He just called he just called the ICC the international criminal court. He just called it a stupid organization Now now we know that's just not a casual remark that reflects a deep long-standing US hatred of the ICC Which was meant to deliver global justice for the worst crimes That are prosecuted around the world yet America has refused to it's never joined the ICC And it actively as you can see in this example it opposes the ICC Let's break down why It's break down why surely that's a principle that the US would subscribe to surely no apparently not so Yeah, what the hell does all this mean? So let's have a look at the context back it up for a second the ICC and America's red line So it was established in 2002 to prosecute genocide surely they would sign up to this our war crimes Of course you're gonna sign up to this and crimes against humanity now It's always America that talk about buddy genocide over there Oh, there's some war crimes happening over there and there's crimes against humanity happening They're always talking about this right and yet they don't subscribe to it I mean They're bloody hypocrites. I'll just say it out loud. No, that bloody hypocrites It was created under something called the Rome Statute Which the USA just refused to ratify refused to and refuses to ratify successive presidents from Both parties have viewed the court as a potential threat to America American sovereignty because America does this shit all the time and they don't get busted for it So yeah, we don't do this. Well, no, we do a lot of genocide and we often do I mean don't tell anyone But we do a lot of crimes against humanity That's our thing right until we do we really ought to do that and that's for war crimes. Oh my god We're number one We do war crimes very strongly Yeah, I mean they do right they do A long history. I mean look at Iraq look at Afghanistan look at Yemen look at I mean just you know just Just go around the world right they just go around the world and they just do war crimes and genocide and well them and their partner in Israel Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's beyond question now that that's what they do. So that's why they're like Hang on no, no, no, no, no, no, we can't really sign up to that because presidents will go to jail the international criminal court Is an illegitimate international organization that frankly illegitimate they've made themselves illegitimate because they claim that even if You're not a member of that court they can come after you what that literally means in the future is that Literally others could find themselves under the under indictment by this international criminal court Did you want to know a little bit about it? Jack Smith used to work there These are the people I think they can go on and basically indict any world leader and call them into the Hague So we've begun. We tried to get them to reform and listen to us They wouldn't do it to very arrogant We've now been on an effort to really try to bring that court to here. There's no information that they're after me It could happen But just say you know if you're talking about it, I'm saying that means it's not trying to defend me He's trying to defend BB at various other people But there are many people that shouldn't be looked at that way, but there is no indication that I'm one of them at this moment Secretary of the Defense will go to jail Or war whatever buddy that idiot buddy In my opinion he says Yeah, I mean that's why right? That's why you've got Rubio coming out with such a blunt and Below his station, I really do think the Secretary of State and the head of the NSA of the U.S.A I think this is kind of like you really sort of want to step away from this, but he didn't just put his boot into it Yeah, so yeah, they dismiss the ICC outright And it's outright as ineffective and illegitimate for the United States of America They're above that He emphasized that the court will never exercise jurisdiction over Americans But they should prosecute Putin go after Putin and that she as well she from China you should go and prosecute them But American oh no no no no no no no no no no no no no no we didn't sign up to the Rome statute Yeah, hypocritical man so hypocritical And the timing of course, it really matters because they are in that that they're writing They buried in around right now and And it's kicking off, so the last thing they want to do, and also they, with their proxy, not their proxy, they're, I was going to say subordinate, but it's not. You know, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon and everything else that they touch is just, yeah, they want to try and keep their distance from the ICC. They know that they'll be in all sorts of shit if they endorse the Rome Statute. So, his language, Rubio's language, is deliberately strong, and sending a very clear message while I'm definitely doing that, reinforces by part of, both sides of the house, by partisan consensus, that American service members and officials, they answer to no one. They certainly don't answer to some, you know, some institutional body over in Europe, somewhere else. No, no. We're Americans, we are how accountable every four years at this thing called an election, and that's it. We're not accountable to anybody else, essentially. I know I'm joking about it, but it's kind of true, right? It's kind of true, but from, you know, this hypocrisy has an impact, right? You can't just pull a stunt like this and have no consequence. So, critics of the US position accuse it of hypocrisy, that's me, demanding accountability from others while refusing to join the court is what they're doing. Now, supporters of it, counter that, the ICC has shown signs of politicisation. Well, it's, I mean, Christ, how can you not be political? You've got to just evolve, right? You've got to try and do better and have checks and balances in place, but without it, you've basically got lawlessness, and that's where we are now. For the USA, the practical reality is absolutely clear. It maintains its own standards and investigates incidents selectively. Basically, selectively. You're obviously not going to kick your own ass, right? It's really hard to get your leg around, butcher yourself in the asshole. So, they don't, they don't do that. They're like, oh, you know, there's some dragons over there, we're not going to talk about it. Well, let's talk about this over here. You know, that's basically their MO, that's what they do. Yeah, so, but how do they get away? Well, they're a great power. They're a regional hegemon. And because of that, they can get away with this. If they weren't a great power, then they couldn't, but they are. They're like one of the most powerful organisations in the history of organisations. So, they can just ignore it. They can mock it like what Rubio is doing. They can just take the piss out of it. And there's nothing anybody can do about it. What about looking forward? So, yeah, Marco's doing this thing, and I kind of understand, I'm sure he's not the only one, but any people have done it. US definitely will not accept this. It's not going to change any time soon. I get it. That's the way it is. And that protects their sovereignty. Yeah. To some degree, it also does that. But it does highlight the limit of global institution. When the biggest player has basically opted out. So, if the US does not endorse the ICC, then there is no ICC. If the USA does not endorse the ICC, then there is no ICC. That's the whole point. I mean, it's one thing to say, you know, I blame a rough. You know, everyone else should do it. And we think you should keep it because we want to be able to throw people like Putin under the bus. It's fine, fine, fine. But you're really undermining the ICC. It actually doesn't have any teeth. And it's not the only one because the ICC is one of a number of international bodies that do really important stuff, like the WTO and, you know, the WHO. These are all bodies that have just been set basically by America. There's a lot of United Nations agencies that have done really important stuff in the past. And they're very useful to the world. But they're not so useful to a hedgehogon, a regional hedgehogon. You know, a very powerful country like the USA. That doesn't really have a, there's no peer to the USA at the moment. There's China, which is like a pacing threat. But it's not, you know, it's not establishing itself as an international power. It's establishing itself as a regional power. So that's the kind of situation that you've got at the moment. So we're basically degrading the likes of these large bodies. We're not, but the USA are basically removing the power from these international organisations. And so we end up just being in the situation where we have... I don't understand how to describe it, but it's like... You know, it's basically like... You've got, you know, three thugs in the street. And they can thump each other. And you've got the rest of the street, which is like little guys. And they can't get involved. They would just get crushed by any of the three thugs. And, or four thugs now with around. Maybe five thugs with North Korea. Maybe six thugs. You know, a bunch of thugs. And it's... Yeah, and for the smaller countries, the smaller states, they are totally powerless. And any of these thugs can come along and thump the living daylights out of them. And there's nobody to defend them. There's no organisation to go to. If you go to the UN, they just go, well, let's put it to a vote at the Security Council. And the thugs are on the Security Council. All of them. So I was like, well, shit. You know, there's no recourse for... You know, so I mean, I don't have an answer for this. I'm just laying out what the gravity of the issue is. I think it's quite a serious issue for us. Yeah. Yeah, because like, you know, a small country, let's say Spain, relatively small country. It doesn't have any power. You know, it's got its NATO. It's got NATO. But really, that's been deep-powered as well. So, you know, if the USA comes along and thumps Spain, what can it do? Not match, really. What if around fires missiles on the Spain? What can it do? Back a rule, really. What can it do? Can plane? Can it complain to the UN? It says not fear. Can it use Article 5 in NATO? No. I don't think so. I think that's just... That's not realistic anymore. There is no Article 5 in effect in my opinion team. I think Article 5 is toast. Well, you know, what about a China? I mean, it's not in China's nature to do this sort of stuff. I've got no record of doing that. But hypothetically, if China thumps somebody, let's just say in the region, if China thumps like some small Asian country, I won't even say one. Because it's not worth it. But if they thump the small Asian country and just said, oh, actually, we're going to make you Chinese territory now. What are you going to do? We're going to ring up the UN and say, look, I'd like to complain on behalf of my little country because I've been dumped by China. Not really. What are you going to do? Well, let's take it to Security Council. Well, we can't make it. Because China's on the Security Council. Well, let's take it to the ICC. Well, we can't. Because the US isn't partying to the ICC and everybody else has abandoned it. Because, you know, there's nobody... It doesn't apply to a good chunk of the world. So, yeah, it's a waste of time. Can you see what I'm saying? So, it's kind of every country for themselves. And it really is about forming alliances with one of the big bullies, so you can get some protection. You know what I'm saying? That's kind of the direction that we're hitting by America, who we saw as the shining light on the hill. We saw it as this beacon of hope and a beacon of righteousness. You know, a beacon of all things that are good and kind are benevolent. You know? We thought that's what they were. And they're not. And it's not the case. So, all the small countries around the world, we're now looking at each other going, shit! We're at a different place now. The UN is kind of pointless. The international bodies like the ICC, they're all pointless. We used to think that they were, you know, that was the thing that would protect us all. All of that. I don't know. It's a turn and 80 small countries, not all that. Turn and 80 countries? Yeah. We're confronted now with a new choice. And a lot of this is regional. Like, it's like, if you're in the Western hemisphere, the US is asserted itself across all the way from, this is my argument. I keep replaying this because it's what I believe in. And it's what the US actually published in their doctrine in December. They published a document, and they basically said that Western hemisphere is ours. And it's basically renewing the monorod doctrine, they're basically restating the monorod doctrine, which basically says from Alaska, Greenland, all the way down through Canada, North America, Mexico, South America, all the way down to Argentina, and probably Antarctica. That is the Western hemisphere. And that is their patch. And if you turn up and you do anything they don't like in your patch, they'll beat the living dialects out of you so they'll bully you. And they basically say, look, stay out of our patch. The rest of what the rest of you do in your patch up to you, we don't give a shit. But in our patch, we do, we're going to come down hard and we'll come and invade you and do bad things. Basically, that's what they've stated as their doctrine. I mean, it's pretty interesting. The world we live in now, and it's happened so quickly, like in the space of like 12 years, we've moved from, you know, and when Obama was around, it was definitely all around international bodies. And then we had Trump won, we had Eustel's bloody bottom, and then we had Trump too. We're only halfway through Trump too, and it's clear now, it is clear, 100%. We are in a new world. We have regional hegemon's. China is basically, you know, they basically control the west inside of the Pacific. And they go across to Asia, to Western Asia. I don't know how far they go, you know. And then you go, I don't know, I don't know how far they go. Because India and China are not good buddies. But then China and Russia are good buddies, you know. So you've got these, we're starting to see, sort of like these pockets forming. So, yeah, I mean, I hope you sort of, you're still with me. I understand where I'm sort of going with this. But I think it's very interesting to see the evolution happening so quickly, like 12 years, doesn't in a 10 years by so far really. 10 years, doesn't take long. And we're in a new age where these international bodies don't have the currency they used to. Well, that's my view anyway. If you agree with my view, put a little comment below it.
